Away from music reviews, today i want to talk about how we celebrate our own,i remember Sauti sol were nominated for MAMA awards and after they lost people on social media were all negative, talking bad about them, now we had the AFIMAMA's this weekend and when Bahati,Ogopa and DJ Josh won,the reaction was opposite,i thought Kenyans would also make noise and be happy about the win but the opposite happened.

So Kenyans if you notice,in the East African countries we won big,but do we celebrate our own?
Diamond Platinumz won the Best Male
East Africa 2014 while Lady Jaydee took home the Best Female East Africa 2014,compared
to our own Bahati who won Best Gospel Artiste 2014 meaning in Africa not in
East Africa, but truth be said, Other countries are celebrating their own
unlike us,is it a culture of Selfishness we have or how can we justify this behavior.
Bahati-Winner Best Gospel Artist 2014 |
Best Video Director 2014 went to
Ogopa Dj’s,it means Ogopa are the best Video Directors in Africa, but how well
have we celebrated them?what are we doing to show that we appreciate them
taking our country to an international level?
I read papers and saw online how
Tanzanians welcomed Diamond, yet our people came home, not any accolade from
us,is it us Kenyans who don’t know the art of appreciation or were we never
natured to show emotions? or all that consumes us is politics? and how long will this go on?Just wonderind!!
